When was your first run with YRC? How did you hear about it?
August 2022 - I had just signed up for the 2023 Pittsburgh Half Marathon and was looking for running buddies. YRC had a run at a brewery that was two blocks from my house, so I figured I'd check it out. Worst case scenario, it's a total bust and I run home, right? Turns out I loved it, and the rest is history!
What does being a "local, lovable misfit runner" mean to you?
It means finding community, enjoyment, and pride as a runner no matter where you are in your running journey.
What keeps you coming back to YRC/running in general?
It took a long time for me to consider myself a "runner" because I'm not fast. YRC was the first place that I felt supported and respected as a runner, regardless of my pace.
Tell us about a memorable YRC-related moment
Planning YRC100 was an absolute blast. I had been on the pacer/sweeper crew for a while, but YRC100 was when I realized I wanted to be involved with YRC on a larger scale.
